We got into our apartment today, spent a huge amount of money on appliances, furniture, etc. and got the phone and internet running. The last was the only tricky part. A few phone calls to the ISP and Apple too. The ISP had no record of the account we opened on 21st September. Then we had to get the hardware and software aligned and then remember that my new e-mail/username ends in .com.au and not just .com.

Lovely looking place! Congratulations on getting settled in. By the way... two days ago I was babysitting for a friend. Her son (age 5) brought me a book and requested that I read it to him. The book? A Moomin book from the 1960s... you were right, very cool illustrations!
Congrats on getting in and settled; wow you had to buy your own appliances?
That blue sky sure looks nice!!
In Australia you get a stove/cooker (and in our case dishwasher) and often a dryer in apartments. Then you have to have your own refrigerator and washing machine. The latter two were just delivered this morning. It's been sunny most of the time with only a few drops of rain. Not neccessarily a good thing as there is a drought in progress in Australia still.
PS -the building is pretty typical of newer apartment buildings in Canberra. Americans would call them condos. All the units are owned by individual owners. We have two balconies (east and west). There is also underground parking and storage.
Great to hear about children reading moomin books in the US - they're not well known there, or here in Australia.
moom, Man have I been busy. Good luck to all things OZ. With my two kids American McMansion and a great wife, I still remember my time as a "Septic Tank" in Sydney fondly.
Best of luck, life and liberty. Australiua, although most definetely different than what I remember, must still be an adventure to be.....
Keep up your NW growth challenge and I will methodically continue to plod along.
